After graduating from Loughborough College of Art and Design in '96 Steph spent time working on art events and projects. This was interspersed with periods overseas, where she worked with children and taught them jewellery skills. These experiences soon led her home to produce her own collection.
“The consciousness of wearing your chosen piece of jewellery reminds you of your personal identity. Many pieces also evoke an emotional response if received from a loved one.
I aim to make jewellery which encourages interaction, each handmade piece with its smooth lines or moving elements should be worn, touched and engaged with.
My design influences focus around simplicity of function, fusing clean simple lines and geometric shapes with themes of repetition and movement. I often use oxidised detail or gold elements to highlight specific features.”
Steph designs and makes her jewellery from her London-based studio and also works for an international development charity. |
